Course Overview:

Administering medications safely is not a simple task, but a complex process that calls for critical thinking as the nurse applies the main 5 RIGHTS of medication administration. In this program, critical thinking skills are used to anticipate potential errors and allow the nurse to take measures to avoid errors. Students are given multiple opportunities to employ critical thinking skills, such as inquiry, recall, habit, and creativity to solve problems related to safe medication administration.

Course Objectives:

While using this program, the learner will:

  • apply the main 5 RIGHTS of medication administration to simulated nursing situations.
  • apply additional RIGHTS of medication administration that may be used in some facilities.
  • identify critical thinking strategies designed to avert medication errors.
  • employ critical thinking to solve problems related to safe medication administration.
